Los Angeles, June 25th 2017,
My little Champ,
This is how I used to call you, my little Champ. I promise to change that in my next letter! More than 2 years now, and I missed you so much every day.
I used to tell you, teasing you, that you will always be my baby. For sure, you are not a baby anymore.
I hope this year of 7th grader went well. I’m sure that it has not be easy, being in between Palm Desert and Monaco, even for a smart boy like you. Sometimes I remember when I used to help you in math, and I think that now that I could finally be a real help, I’m not there with you. But you always got everything so fast when I was explaining to you, that I’m sure you’re doing great anyway. I probably miss that more than you need it!
School apart, what are you doing in your free time, and now for the summer? I wonder if you started to play tennis again. You loved it, you were good, it would be too bad if you stopped playing. Doug left at the Mountain Gate, and Kris took his place. He is the boss now up there. He misses you too.
What about golf? You should be really good now. I have this beautiful video of you hitting from the Gold (when I was hitting from the blue!) on top of the mountain side… You were good already! I’m sure Bill is very proud of you. He probably stopped with the “Bighorn bugs”, it will cost them too much now! Do you play with Marco, is he still your best friend?
Did you see that Rafa won his 10th Roland Garros? Impressive, he didn’t loose a set during the championship and he lost only 35 games!! Have you been to Indian Wells this year? Roger won! I remember the last year when we were there together, we were all cheering for him and he lost again Djoko. I still have the pictures of you with the panel “Roger this…. or Roger that”. I’m sure you remember it too.
What about soccer? And Swimming? Are you getting into some American games, I saw that your school in the desert has a lot of space to practice.
I miss our training sessions of Karate/boxing… I will need it now to keep me fit!!!
Your mom wrote that you bought a house in Hawaii. That’s great! Aren’t you almost an hawaian boy with all the time we used to spend there?
She said that you will be travelling a lot this summer, in Asia and other places. You like to travel so, enjoy! It will be a great experience.
I could say, send me a postcard sometimes, but I already know what you would say about it: nobody sends postcards anymore!! And you are probably right.
I wish you all the best for this summer, and I will continue to write to you as of now.
You are always in my thoughts, every day and anything I do. I hope that sometimes you remember a little bit about our ten first years together.
Big kisses.
Your dad who miss you so much.
